About this work

A Word for Later

A poem that keeps a place for something to return.

Plants, insects, machines and small diagrams share a changing cellular field. Its births, losses and quiet places guide the writing. Stanzas arrive whole and stay long enough to be read.

The piece saves certain words with a trace of the field and a short musical phrase. Minutes later, a word may return to a different place. The quartet remembers with it: a phrase changes instrument, loses notes, or leaves a single note behind.

Each seed holds an arrangement of colour, type, drawing, verse and sound. The drawings and English poems are made in JavaScript, here in your browser. Bass, drums, trombone and keyboards share the same unfolding history.
